Unit 1 - American Revolution
8th graders will use the background knowledge gained at the end of 7th grade to start studying why the American colonies grew intensely dissatisfied with their British rulers. Some key areas of focus include the French and Indian War, the much-hated taxes that followed, the Declaration of Independence, and the influence of Enlightenment thought (like publicly questioning authority or having rights!). In this unit, 8th graders are required to write a lengthy, strenuous, thoughtful essay answering the questions below, so encourage your child to study!
