Unit 2 - Fertile Crescent
In Unit 2, 6th Graders study the cradle of civilization: the Fertile Crescent. The Fertile Crescent produced some of the first and longest lasting civilizations in history. What made this area so special? 6th graders will master the concept of how geography determines success for a civilization. 6th graders will also look into the values and contributions of the world's first civilizations, examining how their values and accomplishments impact our world today. Some things we study up close include the world's first written languages, the development of law, the use of mudbricks and ziggurats, the ancient Hebrews, and the rise and fall of Mesopotamian empires.
