Unit 6 - Ancient Greece
Western Civilization has been influenced by all ancient societies. Yet probably the most influential, the one that we trace most American culture back to, is ancient Greece. From democracy to philosophy, from drama to myth, the Greeks have certainly made a lasting impression on the world. The 6th graders will study the effects of Greece's unique geography, the myths of the Greeks and what they tell us about their values, the Greek wars, Greek philosophy, Alexander the Great, and of course, the meaning of democracy! This unit will be full of fun activities, including the use of democracy in class, marching in phalanx formations (thank you, Sparta), and doing research on the fickle Greek gods.
Essential Questions
